Overview
Off the Wall is a fast, treacherous right that breaks over a rock shelf and throws super-fast barrel sections. Those barrels are fickle and the spot is often blown-out, so it takes the right day for everything to line up.
When It Works
The reef draws swell from east to south (E-S), and it lines up best on a southeast (SE) swell. It works from 1.2 m / 4 ft to 3.7 m / 12 ft, so it wants genuine size to turn on. Expect it to be somewhat inconsistent, with worthwhile windows rather than steady day-to-day surf.
Wind and Tide
Look for northwest (NW) offshore wind to clean it up. It breaks on low and mid tide, and a rising tide is generally the better call. Avoid high tide, which makes getting in and out virtually impossible.
Local Tips
This is an experts-only wave. The fast, fickle barrels and the rips that run through the area leave little margin for error, so it is not a spot to learn on. Expect a moderately busy lineup when it is working.
Access
Getting out takes a walk down the cliff followed by a long paddle. There is free roadside parking near the top.
