Overview
Ostiones is a left-hand reef break that peels over a mix of uneven reef and sand. It's the kind of wave that rewards a bit of patience, delivering worthwhile sessions when the swell and conditions come together.
When It Works
The break draws swell from south through west-southwest to northwest (S-WSW-NW), with south swell the best match. It works from 1.2 m / 4 ft to 3 m / 10 ft and is moderately consistent, so look for worthwhile windows rather than everyday surf. The lefts are especially worth checking on a big southwest swell.
Wind and Tide
Look for southeast offshore wind to clean it up. Ostiones can work through most of the tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
The wave suits intermediate surfers, and you can expect a busy lineup when it's on.
Access
You can reach Ostiones by sea or by land, though the land route is a long walk. Parking nearby is restricted, so plan ahead.
