Palatupana surf guide

Palatupana is located on the east side of Yala National Park, accessible through the expensive Block 1 entrance. This spot features a guesthouse and some striking reddish sand dunes, adding to the natural scenery. It’s a bit off the beaten path, which often results in a less crowded surf experience.

The surf at Palatupana offers a decent little right point break, mainly breaking over boulders and sand. It works best with a south swell and can also handle northeast and southwest swells. The waves are generally in the 2ft (about 0.6m) range, making it a good option for intermediate surfers. If you find yourself there, the best wave action happens during low, mid, and high tides, with north-west winds being the most favorable.

Although Palatupana isn’t the most famous surf spot, its consistency attracts those willing to navigate the costs associated with visiting. The combination of stunning surroundings and the potential for decent waves makes it a place worth checking out if you're in the area.
