The drive from Santa Maria takes about 35 minutes, making it a decent alternative if you're looking for something different.

The waves at Palmeira break left over uneven reef and handle swell sizes starting from around 2 feet (0.6 meters). The optimal swell direction is Northwest, but it can also pick up swells from Northeast. The best time to surf here is during low to mid or high tides. If the wind is coming from the east, you’ll find better conditions overall. This spot is best suited for intermediate surfers, so make sure you have a bit of experience before paddling out.

Palmeira offers consistency, providing a decent number of days with surfable waves throughout the year. There are also a couple more reefs located on the southern headland, which can add to your options if you're looking to explore a bit.
