Parlours surf guide

Parlours is a surf spot located just southeast of Soup Bowl. It's known for its diverse wave offerings and consistency, making it a reliable choice for surfers wanting to escape the crowds at Soup Bowl. The wave can be accessed with about a 300m paddle and can accommodate various skill levels, depending on the swell size.

When it comes to surfing at Parlours, the wave can change quite a bit. On smaller days, it’s a great place for beginners and intermediates, with gentle, soft shoulders. As the swell builds, the wave becomes more challenging, hitting heavy and powerful sections that can go up to triple overhead (up to 6 meters). The optimal swell direction is from the east, and it handles swell sizes from about 1 meter to 6 meters (3ft to 20ft). It's perfect for those looking to ride left and right, mainly breaking over uneven reef. The best wind direction is from the southwest, and it's best to surf during low to high tides. If you like to ride different board types, you’ll find Parlours works well with shortboards, funboards, longboards, fish, and even guns on the really big days.

The spot enjoys a pretty good local vibe and often has low crowds, making it a solid option, especially during late summer and fall for tropical cyclones or from late fall through early spring for consistent waves. Just watch out for urchins if you’re paddling around the reef. If you're looking for a change of pace or want to avoid the Soup Bowl chaos, Parlours is worth checking out.
