Pavillion Royal fronts the large Camping Pavillion Royal, where a platform of reef every now and then lines up shallow, bowly rights alongside a choice of peaks up and down the beach. Waves peel both left and right over a mix of uneven reef and sand, so there's room to spread out and find your own peak.
When It Works
The break draws swell from the west through to north (W-N), with a northwest swell the best match. It's a consistent spot, and it's usable from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, so there's a wide working window across small and bigger days.
Wind and Tide
Look for a southeast offshore wind to keep it clean. The reef works through low, mid, and high tide, but a rising tide is generally the better call, and high tide tends to do it few favours. Time your session for the morning where you can, since the afternoon sea-breeze will often tear the surf apart.
Local Tips
This one suits intermediate surfers, with the shallow reef and bowly sections rewarding confident wave selection. Expect a busy lineup when it's on, and the locals will be out in force whenever it's good. It's also a popular nudist area, so plan accordingly.
Access
There's plenty on hand here: restrooms, showers, lifeguard cover, a surf school, and camping right by the beach. For parking, you've got a car park with free parking as well as roadside spaces.
