Pellines is a left-hand pointbreak over sand, tucked into a small locality 26 km south of Constitucion. The place is easy to drive straight past: a fishing harbor, a handful of shops and a few small fishing houses is about the sum of it. The wave doesn't rank with the region's best, but it can produce fun lefts and earns its keep as a backup when the nearby gems are flat.
When It Works
Swell arrives from west-southwest to north (WSW-N), and the point is usable from 1.2 m / 4 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft. Summer and autumn are the seasons to look at, with February through May the window worth watching. When other spots close by aren't seeing enough swell, this is the one to check.
Wind and Tide
Look for east-southeast (ESE) offshore wind. The workable wind window runs east-northeast through southeast to south (ENE-SE-S), which gives you a bit of room to work with. Both low tide and high tide are in play, and a rising tide is generally the better call.
Local Tips
The lineup is quiet, often with nobody out at all, though it can feel reserved when there are people around. Shortboards, funboards, longboards and fish all have a place here, and the wave suits everyone from beginners through to experts. Paddling isn't bad on average, but expect to burn some energy walking or paddling back up the point after a long ride. Keep an eye on the ocean and don't turn your back on it.
