Overview
Peregian Creek is a sandy beachbreak on the Coolum stretch, where plenty of access routes lead down to peaks that break both left and right. The long-running focus is Pitta Street at the south end of town, where slabs of coffee rock hold the banks together and let the sand firm up when a bigger southeast swell hits. When it's on, you'll find ripable peaks and good shorey sections.
When It Works
Peregian Creek draws swell from northeast through southeast, and it comes into its own on a southeast (SE) swell. It works from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft, and the bigger southeast pushes are what fire up the banks around the coffee rock at Pitta Street.
Wind and Tide
Look for a northwest (NW) offshore wind to clean things up. The beach works across low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call, and the shorey sections come alive on the higher tides.
Local Tips
Peregian Creek suits beginners and tends to be quieter than nearby Coolum, though there's usually a crew on it most days.
Access
The spot is well set up, with restrooms, showers, camping, a lifeguard, plus a surf school and surf shop close by. For parking you've got a car park with free spaces, paid parking, and roadside options.
