More about Playa Parguito surfspot

Taking its name from the red snapper fish, Parguito is the island’s primo surfspot. Gets some hollow short rides at times and there can be a few nice A-frames along its length when the rips break up the close-outs. Regularly onshore but still enough push for some ramps, attracting plenty of locals. Less swimmers to avoid than at El Agua.

Its extra consistency makes it the pick for surf contests and national championships are regularly organised here. It was also home to the Pan American Surfing Games in February 2002, which saw the local team take victory ahead of Guadeloupe and Peru.
