Point of Ness is a long, fun, bowly right-hand point that sits in the lee of Dunnet Head. The wave peels over a rock ledge, and the paddle-out is easy.
When It Works
It draws swell from west to north (W-N), with northwest (NW) the best match. The point is usable from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 3.7 m / 12 ft. Consistency can be hit or miss, so it pays to be ready when the setup lines up.
Wind and Tide
Look for east (E) offshore wind, though the point holds up on any easterly and picks up some shelter from a north wind too. It works through low and mid tide, with a rising tide generally the better call, and it can keep breaking up to high when the swell is big enough.
Local Tips
This is an expert-level wave. Expect a moderately busy lineup when it works, and it can pull more of a crowd on north-wind days.

There's camping nearby and free roadside parking, though space near the jetty is limited.
