Point St George surf guide

Point St George is a surf spot located in a scenic area that's great for catching some waves. It features a unique combination of a lefthand reef and a right sandbar. The spot really gets going during the larger winter swells, especially when the tide is low and the wind is coming from the southeast. Surfers can expect a mixed bag of conditions here, with some semi-pointbreak setups that can deliver decent rides. The place is not always firing, but it has its days, especially when the conditions align.

The surf here can handle swells coming from the south and north, with sizes up to about 3 feet (roughly 1 meter). During bigger swells, the energy is mellowed by nearby sea stacks and reefs, making a 15-foot swell more manageable, with the waves on the smaller side, like head high. Surfers can enjoy some hollow sections, particularly on the left waves. The inside beachbreak rights just north of the main break can be really fun, especially in smaller swells and with the southeast winds. Surfers looking for a mix will find that low to mid tide is the sweet spot for a better experience.

If you're in the area, make sure to check out the St. George Light, which is about 7 miles offshore on St. George Reef. You can reach the break by taking a grassy knoll trail at the end of Radio Road, making it a nice little adventure to get to the waves.
