Ponce Inlet Surf Forecast Guide

Overview

Ponce Inlet sits on the north side of Ponce de Leon Inlet, where a long jetty shapes a right-hander that breaks over sand. That jetty gives the wave its character: it can throw crunchy rights or turn mushy and break well off the beach, depending on the day. It holds larger surf than most Florida beachbreaks and earns a solid reputation when it lines up.

When It Works

The break draws swell from east to south (E-S), with southeast (SE) the best match. A southerly of any size can peel off to the right for long distances, while the jetty's rebound cleans out anything coming from the north. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 4.6 m / 15 ft and can hold surf as big as it gets, including hurricane swells. Expect a consistent wave through spring, autumn, and winter.

Wind and Tide

Look for southwest (SW) offshore wind. Ponce breaks on all tides, with a rising tide generally the better call.

Local Tips

This is an intermediate-level right that suits a shortboard. As at most inlets, sharks are around. When there's decent surf the lineup gets very busy, though the atmosphere stays friendly.

Access

You can drive onto the beach and park in the paid car park. Facilities include restrooms, showers, and a lifeguard.
