Overview
Port Salut Points is a run of left-hand points that break over boulders near the rivermouths around Port Salut. The setups here are genuinely good, though the waves stay inconsistent. Port Salut itself is a popular weekend getaway, with a good range of hotels and a beach campsite.
When It Works
These points pick up swell from east through south, and southeast swell is the best match. It takes some size to turn on, breaking mainly on hurricane swells and the higher-period south-southeast wind swells that follow. The working range runs from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.5 m / 5 ft, and even with a swell running it can be somewhat inconsistent.
Wind and Tide
Look for northeast offshore wind to clean things up. The points break on low and mid tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
The waves suit intermediate surfers, and the lineup stays quiet when it's working.
Access
Getting there is straightforward road access with roadside parking, and there's a campsite for anyone wanting to stay close to the water.
