Overview
Porth Ceiriad is a beachbreak that breaks over sand, best known for the high-quality wedge that peels off the cliffs at the eastern end. It forms powerful left peaks that stay shallow and punchy, and it can throw hollow sections when everything lines up.
When It Works
The break draws swell from the south through southwest (S-SW), with southwest (SW) the best match. It's usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 3 m / 10 ft and offers both lefts and rights, though the standout is that powerful left off the cliffs.
Wind and Tide
Look for north (N) offshore wind. The wedge is best at high tide, and a rising tide is generally the better call.
Access
You can park on the cliffs overlooking the beach, with free, paid, and roadside options, and camping is possible up top. There's a fee to access in summer, which was £2.
