Overview
Praia Meia is a sandy beach break that throws up both lefts and rights. In summer it gets busy with tourists, but it's well served, with full facilities on hand.
When It Works
The beach pulls in swell from southeast through south to west (SE-S-W), and it lines up best when the swell comes from the northeast. It's usable from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 4.8 m / 16 ft, giving it a broad working range.
Wind and Tide
Look for a northeast offshore wind to groom the peaks. The beach works through most of the tide, with low tide the pick and a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
The waves here suit intermediate surfers best.
Access
Parking is easy, with a car park offering free parking alongside paid and roadside options. Facilities are plentiful too: restrooms, showers, a lifeguard, camping, and both a surf school and a surf shop.
