Praia Tofo is a soft right point backed by a weak inside beachbreak, breaking over sand and staying small and fun. It suits beginners and longboarders, and the corner picks up good protection from any south wind.
When It Works
The break draws swell from northeast through east-southeast to south (NE-ESE-S), with southeast swell the best match. It's usable from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.2 m / 4 ft and offers both lefts and rights. Consistency is moderate, so expect worthwhile windows rather than waves every day. Once the northeast onshore has blown for a few days, better lefts turn on further north in front of Bamboozi beach lodge.
Wind and Tide
Look for southwest offshore wind. The break can work through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call. From mid to low tide, a pushier left shorebreak forms about halfway up the beach near a rock groin.
Local Tips
This is a friendly spot for beginners, and the lineup usually stays fairly quiet.
