Overview
Punta Abreojos is a cluster of right-hand point breaks working over uneven reef, and most of them come alive on south swells. The Point takes all the size while staying fairly approachable, and 3 Poles is another manageable wave, but Razors is seriously hollow and fast over shallow, unforgiving reef.
When It Works
The points draw swell from south through west, with south (S) the best direction. It works from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 3.7 m / 12 ft and is moderately consistent, so you'll get worthwhile windows when the swell lines up.
Wind and Tide
Look for a north (N) offshore wind. It can blow strong across the outside point, though Razors cleans up when the wind swings from the northwest. The breaks work through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide the better call.
Local Tips
This suits intermediate surfers best, though most abilities will find something to ride. Expect a moderately busy lineup when it's working. There's plenty of sea life around, including sharks.
Access
You can pay to camp right in front of the breaks, and there's a car park with paid parking. Fresh fish is available from the Co-op.
