Overview
Rose Avenue is a beachbreak in Santa Monica, breaking over sand at the foot of the street it takes its name from. It is a mundane wave most of the time, offering both lefts and rights, but it can turn good when smaller windswells fill in.
When It Works
The bank draws swell from south through west-southwest to northwest and is usable from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft, closing out once the surf pushes above head high. It stays highly consistent and comes into its own as a summer spot, with the best sessions arriving on smaller windswells.
Wind and Tide
Look for a northeast offshore wind. Rose Avenue works on any tide, though a rising tide is generally the better call.
