Saint-Nicolas surf guide

Saint-Nicolas is a surf spot located near Park de la Grange, often overlooked by many surfers. It's best known for its long left-handers that can be found at Plage de la Mine, especially during a big storm. While some spots around here can be below average, Saint-Nicolas has its moments and can surprise you if you know where to look. Keep an eye out for a few hidden gems as you make your way along the coast up to Les Sables.

The spot mainly favors a NorthWest swell, with SouthWest swells also making an appearance. It works well with swell sizes starting from about 2ft (0.6 meters). The waves break over uneven reef and sandy bottoms, offering both point breaks and some nice lefts. If you’re planning your session, mid to high tides are the way to go. The preferred wind direction is also NorthWest, making it a decent option when conditions align. This place is definitely more suited for intermediate surfers, so make sure you're comfortable on your board before paddling out.

While you're out there, keep your eyes peeled for a righthander to the north of Jard. It can be a nice change of pace and offers a different vibe from the lefts at Plage de la Mine. Overall, Saint-Nicolas might not be the most famous spot, but it's worth checking out if you're in the area and want to catch some waves.
