Overview
Samoa Peninsula is a long, variable beachbreak that runs about four miles along the road between Samoa and Fairhaven. Waves break over sand and peel both left and right, giving you plenty of shifting peaks to choose from.
When It Works
It pulls in swell from the south through to the north (S-N), and lines up best on a northwest swell. The break is usable from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 3 m / 10 ft, and tends to be at its best on smaller swells. It's a consistent spot, so there's a good chance of finding something rideable when you check it.
Wind and Tide
Look for southeast offshore wind to clean it up. It works across low, mid, and high tide, though a rising incoming tide is generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is an intermediate-friendly beachbreak, and you can expect a moderately busy lineup when it's working. Keep in mind it's always sharky.
Access
The popular access points are Power Lines, the first place you can see the ocean coming in from the north, Pulp Mills, directly across the road from the Louisiana-Pacific Pulp Mill, and Bay Street.
