Overview
Sandymouth is a consistent beachbreak that peels over sand and serves up both lefts and rights. When the banks line up you get fast, punchy peelers, and the water tends to stay squeaky clean.
When It Works
It draws swell from southwest through northwest (SW-NW), with west (W) swell the best match. This is a small-swell spot that comes into its own on the lower tides, working from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 3 m / 10 ft.
Wind and Tide
Look for east (E) offshore wind. It breaks on low and mid tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
With its consistent, smaller waves, Sandymouth is a friendly option for beginners.
Access
There's a National Trust car park with paid parking, plus restrooms and camping nearby. Watch out for strong rips, and note that beach access gets sketchy at high tide.
