Stone Harbor surf guide

Stone Harbor is part of the Seven Mile Beach, stretching from Townsends Inlet to Hereford Inlet. This spot is known for having a number of jetties, but don’t expect any standout waves here. The vibe is pretty chill, making it a great place for families and surfers alike. You’ll find Nuns Beach, which offers a mellow longboard wave right in front of the convent. It's a solid spot for beginners since the waves don’t usually break off the jetty, keeping things safe and easy.

When it comes to surfing conditions, Stone Harbor handles swell sizes of around 2 feet (0.6 meters), which is perfect for those just starting out. The optimal swell direction is from the Northeast, and it can also work with swells coming from the South. The waves mostly break over sand and can roll in both left and right. For the best experience, the preferable wind direction is from the Northwest, and you can catch fun waves during low, mid, and high tides. Just know that while it can get crowded with families enjoying various beach activities, the overall vibe remains friendly.

Remember, if you’re looking to ride some waves here, this spot is primarily for beginners and longboarders. Be prepared for a mix of surfcraft, especially on busy days. Also, make sure to grab a beach tag before you settle in, as it's required for beach access.
