Overview
Stony Point turns out some of the biggest lefts and rights in Ontario, breaking over a boulder reef on the Great Lakes. The bottom here is genuinely rocky and dangerous, so it is a wave to treat with respect. It also sits in a remote spot, which shapes both the vibe and the crowd.
When It Works
The reef draws swell from southwest through west (SW-W), with a southwest swell the best match. It tends to come alive after a strong southwest-to-west blow pushing size into the lineup. The working size runs from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, so it holds everything from smaller days up to solid overhead surf. Consistency can be hit or miss, so it is worth watching for the right window rather than counting on it.
Wind and Tide
Look for northeast offshore wind to clean up the faces. The reef can work through most of the tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is an intermediate-level wave over a hazardous rocky bottom, so solid board control matters more than raw size here. The remote setting keeps numbers down, and you can expect a fairly quiet lineup even when it turns on.
