Stony Point – Great Lakes surf guide

Stony Point is a surf spot located in the Great Lakes region of Ontario. It’s known for being a bit remote, which means you won’t have to deal with heavy crowds even though it can be consistent. This place is perfect for surfers looking to catch some waves in a quieter setting.

The surf here is pretty decent, especially after a strong Southwest to West wind. Stony Point handles swell sizes around 2ft (about 0.6 meters) and works best with a swell coming from the SouthWest, although it can occasionally handle direct West swells too. The waves break over boulders, forming both left and right reef breaks. For the best conditions, aim for low, mid, or high tides with a prefered Northeast wind. This spot is mainly suited for intermediate surfers, so if you’re starting out, you might want to wait until you have a bit more experience.

Since it’s situated in a less developed area, you can enjoy a more natural surfing experience. Make sure to check the local conditions before heading out, as they can change quickly. It's a good spot to explore if you're looking for something different in the Great Lakes region.
