Sunnyside Bay is a rarely surfed triangular reef tucked into a secluded bay, overlooked by the ruins of Findlater Castle. The uneven reef throws up both lefts and rights.
When It Works
The bay draws swell from northwest through north to east (NW-N-E), and lines up best on a north (N) swell. It works from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft.
Wind and Tide
Look for a south (S) offshore wind to clean things up. The reef breaks on low and mid tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Access
Park at the castle and follow the cliff walk down to the beach. There's roadside parking as well as a car park.
