Tecojate is a surf spot located in Guatemala, where the Rio Coyolate flows into the ocean. The area can have a decent sandbar thanks to the sand that washes down from the central highlands. It’s a nice, laid-back beach that is popular among local surfers. While it can deliver some fun waves, it's not always consistent and generally works best when conditions align just right.

When it comes to surfing, Tecojate shines with a southwest swell, but it can also handle south and west swells. The waves here usually break over sand, making it a good spot for beginners. Generally, the swell size that works best is around 2 feet (0.6 meters), and you can catch both left and right breaks. If you're planning your session, aim for low, mid, or high tides, and keep in mind that a northeast wind is preferable for the best conditions.
