Overview
Ter Heijde is a sandy beach break with a run of low-tide jetties and plenty of space to spread out. It sits between big ports and shipping lanes, so some pollution is possible. The banks break both left and right over a sand bottom.
When It Works
The break pulls in swell from southwest through north, with northwest swell the best match, when the low-tide jetties can shape up a few faster waves. It's usable from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft and is moderately consistent.
Wind and Tide
Look for a southeast offshore wind, as it turns sloppy once the wind swings onshore. The spot works on low and mid tide, with mid tide the best and a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
It's a solid fit for intermediate surfers, and the lineup tends to stay fairly quiet.
Access
You'll find restrooms, showers, and a lifeguard, plus a car park with both free and paid parking.
