The Inlet and Pier surf guide

The Inlet and Pier is a popular surf spot in Maryland, known for its consistency and being a go-to location for many visiting surfers. It features three main breaks that offer a variety of wave options, making it suitable for different skill levels. It's a spot that can get quite crowded, especially during good conditions, so be prepared to share the waves with others.

The best waves can be found off the north inlet jetty, where steep, bowly rights typically provide some of the most solid rides. There's also a second peak that offers lefts and rights, though they tend to be less steep. The peaks on either side of the pier present good opportunities as well. Wave sizes can generally handle up to 2ft (0.6m), and the spot is known for being somewhat sheltered from south winds, which means it can really shine during hurricane swells. The optimal swell direction is southeast, and it can pick up swells from the northeast and south too. For the best experience, low to mid to high tide is preferable.
