Overview
Thotapalli is a modest beach break near Alappuzha, peeling both left and right over sand. Don't expect much shape here, as the waves tend to be fat and crumbly, and you'll find better, more consistent surf further south along the coast.
When It Works
The beach draws swell from the south through west, with a southwest (SW) swell the best match. It works from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft and is moderately consistent, so there are worthwhile windows when the swell lines up.
Wind and Tide
Look for a northeast (NE) offshore wind to clean up the faces. It can work through most of the tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
Those soft, forgiving walls make Thotapalli a friendly spot for beginners, and the lineup usually stays quiet.
Access
There are no facilities at the beach, so come prepared with everything you need.
