Voodoo surf guide

Voodoo is a surf spot known for its legendary left-hand wave that can be intense and challenging. It’s not for everyone and definitely requires a solid level of skill and confidence. The spot is located in a remote area, accessed through a National Park, making it a bit tricky to get to. Because of its reputation, it often gets crowded with locals who are protective of their territory, so be prepared for that if you decide to paddle out.

The waves here break over an uneven reef, which can make things interesting. It works best with southeast swells and handles sizes around 4 ft (about 1.2 meters). The waves are known to suck hard over the outside shelf, and they have a powerful and fast feel to them. The wind from the northwest is preferred, and you can catch good action at low, mid, and high tides. This spot is really meant for expert surfers, as navigating the water can be quite challenging, especially with the local crowd around.

While you’re there, keep in mind there are some other spots nearby like Suck Rock, but again, the local scene can be very unfriendly to newcomers. Just focus on handling Voodoo and remember that it may take some patience to find the right wave. Being confident in your skills is key to enjoying this spot.
