Overview
Yacht Harbour is a reef break at Spanish Town on Virgin Gorda, the mountainous island famous for its massive boulders. When it turns on, the reef throws a tubular A-frame over dead coral, and the rights hold the longer rides. This is an expert's wave.
When It Works
It's worth checking on a large northwest swell. The reef draws swell from northwest through northeast, with northwest (NW) the standout direction, and works from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 3 m / 10 ft. Consistency is the catch: rideable days are rare here, so count yourself lucky if you score it.
Wind and Tide
Look for an east (E) offshore wind. The reef breaks on mid and high tide, with a rising tide the better call. It's very shallow, so higher water is usually the safer bet.
Local Tips
The lineup stays fairly quiet when it breaks. Watch for fire coral and urchins, and keep an eye out for boat traffic on the long paddle-out.
