Yacila is a surf spot located in a charming harbor town that’s a bit off the beaten path. It’s a popular hangout for local bodyboarders, especially during the summer months. The surf here is protected from strong winds by a large rock, which helps create a more enjoyable experience even on breezy days.

The best time to catch some waves is during NW swells, where Yacila handles swell sizes around 2 feet (0.6 meters) pretty well. You’ll mostly be dealing with beach breaks, and the waves tend to close out fairly quickly, which can be a bit mediocre for experienced surfers. However, it’s ideal for beginners since the wave directions include both lefts and rights, making it easier for those just starting out. The wind conditions are decent, with a preferable southeast direction, and the spot works across low, mid, and high tide.

Aside from the surf, Yacila is surrounded by a busy harbor with plenty of boats, so you'll have some sights to enjoy when you take a break from the waves. There are no significant hazards or hassles to worry about, making it a chill spot for a surf session. Just keep in mind that the overall surf isn't the most thrilling, but it can be a good place to work on your skills.
