Yo-yo's - The Hook surf guide

Yo-yo's - The Hook is a surf spot located in Sekongkang Bay, which is known for being a swell magnet. This area features a couple of slabs, including the well-known Yo-yo's, shaped by the refraction off the cliffs. Surfers can expect a laid-back vibe here, making it a nice place to catch some waves without too much hassle.

The waves at The Hook tend to break over dead coral, creating mostly right-handed waves. It's best suited for intermediate surfers. The optimal swell direction is from the south, but you can also catch some action with west swells. The spot can handle swell sizes starting from about 2 feet (0.6 meters) and works well during low to high tides. For the best conditions, it's recommended to surf on small, glassy mornings when the north winds are blowing.

Keep in mind that The Hook doesn't really handle Southeast trades or major swells well, so planning your surf session around the right conditions is key. If you get everything lined up right, you might get to enjoy some makeable barrels as well. Just stay aware that the waves can come with some punch, so being at an intermediate level is a good idea.
