Overview
Yport is one of the best spots in Normandy, a long left that wraps around a rocky, boulder bottom. On bigger days a smaller right also starts to roll on the inside of the bay.
When It Works
The break draws swell from west through north to northeast (W-N-NE), with west (W) swell the best match. This left-hand reef works from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft. It can be somewhat inconsistent, so count on worthwhile windows when the setup lines up rather than waves every day.
Wind and Tide
Look for southwest (SW) offshore wind. The small cliff at Pointe de Chicard keeps the line-up glassy when those southwest winds blow. It comes in on mid and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
Yport suits intermediate surfers, and the lineup gets busy when it works, though it stays smaller and less crowded than nearby Etretat. Keep an eye out for the rip running towards Fécamp.
Access
Head to the western headland at Pointe de Chicard. A car park with free parking sits right in front of the break, and you'll find restrooms, showers, and camping on hand.
