Zanja Honda, also known as Playa Solari, is a surf spot located in the Rocha region of Uruguay. It’s one of the few places that has some localism, so be respectful when you paddle out. The surf at Zanja Honda can be decent, especially if you catch it on the right day. It handles swell sizes from about 2ft (0.6m) up, with the optimal direction coming from the SouthEast. You’ll find both left and right waves here, with longer lefts being a highlight. The break works best at low, mid, and high tide, although low tide does expose some rocks, which can make things tricky if it gets too big. The waves can get hollow and challenging, especially on the rights, so it’s recommended for intermediate surfers looking for a challenge. A comfortable North wind is ideal, but a South swell will really get things going.

Nearby, Corumba beachbreak provides a nice backup option with a wide and peaky setup, perfect for all abilities including surf schools. This spot can yield some hollow sections with a dumping shore, making it a good place for some less stressful surfing when Zanja Honda is not cooperating.
