Surfing in Comoros centres on Anjouan, the volcanic island where the country's small but interesting cluster of surf spots sits along a coastline scattered with reef. The waves here are shaped mostly by dead coral and boulder bottoms, so the dominant setup is reef, with the odd point and beach break rather than long stretches of sandy peaks. Spots like Goat Wash near Mboueladoungou, Dead Fisherman Right at Dar Salam, and Five Papas at Nkozini give a sense of what the island offers, spread across a few small coastal towns.
Most breaks favour swell from the south through southwest, while plenty also pick up east and northeast energy, so orientation varies enough that it pays to match each spot to the direction running.
