Overview
10th Street is a sand-bottomed beachbreak in Avalon that peels both left and right. It sits along the stretch from 8th Street to 16th Street, which picks up northeast swell and seems to amplify it, throwing up hollow peaks around the buried jetties.
When It Works
The break draws swell from northeast through east-southeast to south (NE-ESE-S), with northeast swell the best match. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 3 m / 10 ft, and it stays a consistent option whenever there's swell in the water.
Wind and Tide
Look for northwest offshore wind to clean things up. It can work through most of the tide, though a rising tide is generally the better call.
Local Tips
This one suits intermediate surfers, and you can expect a busy lineup when it's on. Summer is the peak of that, bringing the crowds, beach taggers, and the occasional jellyfish.
