Overview
204s is a beachbreak that peels both left and right over a sandy bottom. The name comes from milepost 204 on the railroad tracks running alongside the beach. It breaks consistently, so there's usually something to ride when a swell is in the water.
When It Works
204s draws swell from south to west and comes alive on small, peaky swells that let the sand banks do their work. It's usable from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft, covering everything from knee-slappers up to head-high peaks. Because it breaks reliably, it's a dependable option across that range.
Wind and Tide
Look for northeast offshore wind to clean up the faces. The break works on low and mid tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
204s suits intermediate surfers comfortable trading peaks in a shifting beachbreak lineup. Expect a very busy lineup when it's working, so be ready to share the waves and pick your spot on the peak.
Access
Getting in means walking a dirt trail that runs between private property, so ask the locals for the way down.
