Overview
64th Place is an artificial reef wave in Long Beach that breaks over sand and peels both left and right. It tends to be mushy and weak, and it can be inconsistent, only really coming to life on big south swells.
When It Works
The wave draws swell from south to west (S-W), though it takes a sizeable south swell before it will break at all. It's usable from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft.
Wind and Tide
Look for northeast (NE) offshore wind. It works best around mid tide, with a rising tide the better call.
Local Tips
This is a longboard wave, so leave the shortboard at home. Be aware the water here can be somewhat polluted.
