Overview
A-Frames, also known as Kandies Left, is a peaky coral reef that spreads across a large, forgiving playing field. Both lefts and rights break here, and while the wedges can throw up a short right, it's the left that stands out and pulls in the boat crews sheltering in the nearby safe anchorage. The waves invite you to drop, snap and tuck, making for a less daunting lineup than many reefs.
When It Works
The spot draws swell from south through southwest, with south (S) swell the best match. It works from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 2.1 m / 7 ft, giving a wide window from small, playful days up to more serious size. Everything breaks over live coral, and while it's not too shallow, the reef still deserves respect.
Wind and Tide
Look for north (N) offshore wind; winds anywhere from the northern quarter work well here. It breaks across low, mid and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
A-Frames suits intermediate surfers, with a playful, less intimidating lineup that rewards a clean drop, snap and tuck. A lower tide helps spread everyone out across the wide, peaky field. Just keep in mind that getting caught inside on bigger days can mean a long and arduous paddle back out.
