Aalsgaarde is a sand-bottom jetty break that peels off longer left-handers wrapping around the jetty. The lefts run for a while but don't carry much punch, so come here for the shape rather than the power.
When It Works
The break needs strong northwest windswell to get going. It draws swell from the west through to north (W-N), with northwest swell the best match, and works from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.2 m / 4 ft. Waves here are inconsistent, so you'll want to time your session for when the setup lines up.
Wind and Tide
Look for northwest offshore wind. The break comes in on low and mid tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is an approachable spot for beginners, and the lineup is rarely crowded. Use the jetty to help you get out the back.
