Abalone Farm is a left-hand point tucked into a south-facing cove, breaking over boulders and sand. A massive hotel development fills the bay, so you won't feel lonely out here.
When It Works
Swell comes in from northeast through southeast, with northeast the best match. The point is usable from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft. When it lines up, the cove can hand you long rides with plenty of room for cutbacks. It can be somewhat inconsistent, so it rewards keeping an eye out for the right window rather than showing up on spec.
Wind and Tide
Look for north offshore wind. The cove also stays sheltered when the wind is up from the northeast, which is part of what makes those lefts worth the paddle. It works through most of the tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
The lefts here suit beginners, and the lineup tends to stay fairly quiet.
Access
There's a car park with free parking, and roadside parking as well.
