Aberystwyth to Abereiddy is a sheltered stretch of Welsh coastline dotted with boulder points, wedgy beachbreaks, and plenty of other gems. Waves break over a mix of boulders and sand and run both left and right, giving this coast a good spread of options.
When It Works
This coastline comes alive in big, wrapping southwest swells. It picks up swell from southwest to west (SW-W), with southwest (SW) the standout direction to line these breaks up. Expect them to work from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft. Being tucked away and sheltered, the breaks here are fickle, so it takes a solid swell wrapping in before they really switch on.
Wind and Tide
Look for southeast (SE) offshore wind to clean things up. It can work across low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
