Anse Bertrand surf guide

Anse Bertrand is a surf spot located on the north coast of Guadeloupe. It's known for being less crowded compared to nearby Port-Louis, making it a pretty chill place for surfers looking for a less hectic surf experience. The area has a variety of waves, which makes it appealing for different skill levels, especially for beginners. With its beautiful surroundings, it’s definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

The surf here really shines with the right conditions. The optimal swell direction is from the north, and it can also handle swells from the northeast. It works well with swell sizes around 3 feet (about 1 meter). You’ll find waves breaking over uneven reef and some sand, offering both left and right-handed waves. The best wind direction is southeast, and it can be surfed at low, mid, or high tide. This spot is definitely beginner-friendly, so if you're just getting your feet wet, you’ll find it more approachable.

While Anse Bertrand is the main attraction, you might also want to check out Anse Laborde if you have the time. Keep in mind that if you venture toward Pointe de la Grande Vigie, the high cliffs in that area usually mean that some spots are only accessible by boat, which might limit your options.
