Anse Salabouelle surf guide

Anse Salabouelle, also known as a la Bouelle, is a popular surf spot located on the east coast. This stretch of reef offers a mix of waves and is known for its snappy, hollow lefts and more mellow rolling rights. It’s a spot that works best with a NorthEast swell direction, but will also pick up waves from the North and SouthEast. If you're considering a session here, it’s good to know that it can pull a crowd, especially when the conditions are prime.

The waves at Anse Salabouelle can handle swell sizes around 3 feet (about 1 meter), which can make for some exciting rides. The lefts tend to be more hollow and quick, while the rights are well-shaped and roll nicely for those looking for a less intense experience. This spot generally works well with SouthWest winds and can be surfed at low, mid, or high tide, making it fairly versatile. It’s best suited for intermediate surfers due to the rocky reef and occasional challenging take-off zones.

When you’re in the water, expect some vibe as it attracts a decent number of locals and visitors alike. It’s essential to watch how the locals navigate the rocky areas, especially since there are urchins around, which can make entering and exiting tricky if you’re not familiar with the spot. If you can time your sessions with the right conditions, you'll find plenty of waves to keep you entertained.

Wind certainty

Wind certainty tells you how much the weather models agree on the forecast.

  • High certainty: Models agree closely; forecast is reliable.
  • Medium certainty: Some disagreement; conditions may shift slightly.
  • Low certainty: Models diverge; treat forecast with caution.

We calculate this by comparing wind speed, gust and direction from multiple models (like GFS, ECMWF, Arome, and Harmonie) and seeing how closely they match. They are weighted, meaning that some models count more than others, depending on how good they are for a certain spot.

Models and Updates

Surfnerd blends multiple global and local wind and swell models using advanced interpolation and spatial techniques to create an "ensemble" forecast. Forecasts are refreshed hourly.

Surf Predictions

Our AI-driven algorithm scores surf quality, shown by green, orange, and gray dots. Each forecast hour is rated for wind, swell, and tide quality, then combined into an overall score. Here’s the scale:

Perfect

Average
Bad or No Data

Session logs also feed the algorithm — the more you log, the smarter your forecasts get.
