Overview
Arrawarra is a fun, often fat right-hand point that's less daunting than most north coast breaks. The wave peels over uneven reef, and long rides of around 400m are on offer when it's on.
When It Works
The point draws swell from northeast through east-southeast to south (NE-ESE-S), with southeast (SE) the best match. It's usable from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 3.7 m / 12 ft. At waist- to head-high it favours longboarders, since any south swell refracts around the large headland and filters out some of the size and power. Once it pushes overhead the power steps up, and the inside runners close to the rocks stand up in sections to offer faster walls for shortboarders. Expect moderately consistent surf.
Wind and Tide
Look for a southwest (SW) offshore wind. Arrawarra is much better at lower tides, so aim for low to mid tide, with a rising tide generally the better call, unless it's really big.
Local Tips
The long, easy walls make this an approachable wave for beginners, and with those 400m rides on offer the lineup can get busy when it works.
