Overview
Baie des Trépassés is a consistent beachbreak tucked inside an impressive cove on the Finistère coast, with sand-bottomed peaks that break both left and right. The bay grabs just about any swell that's running and spreads waves right across its width, so there's room for everyone when it's on. Its name translates as "Bay of Death", and it holds the coldest water temperatures in Finistère.
When It Works
The bay draws swell from southwest through northwest and lines up best on a west (W) swell. It's a versatile spot that works from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 3 m / 10 ft. A small west swell brings out its best, peeling long walls across the sand, and there are occasional hefty barrels off the rock at the north end on higher tides. Being consistent, it's a reliable option when the surrounding breaks go quiet.
Wind and Tide
Look for southeast (SE) offshore wind. It breaks through low, mid, and high tide, with mid tide the pick of the bunch and a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
The waves suit intermediate surfers, and the peaks stretched across the bay give you space to spread out. Expect a busy lineup when it works, especially on small-swell weekends. Keep an eye out for rips and fast offshore currents.

There's a car park with free parking, plus restrooms, showers, and a surf school on hand.
