Balephetrish is a beachbreak tucked into a north-facing bay, where reasonable peaks form over a sandy bottom scattered with rock. The peaks break both left and right, so there's room to pick a side depending on where the sand is sitting.
When It Works
The bay draws swell from southwest to northwest (SW-NW), and it comes together best on a northwest (NW) swell lining up with the north-facing beach. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft, giving you a decent window from small, playful days up to more solid surf.
Wind and Tide
Look for a south (S) offshore wind to clean up the faces. The beach works across low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
