As a rough guide, waves start working from around two feet and stay rideable up into the head-high-plus range, with a handful of exposed breaks holding bigger Atlantic swell when it fires.
Autumn tends to be the standout window, when Atlantic depressions track a touch further south and line up with cleaner offshore spells.
