Balimbing is a left-hand pointbreak out near the tip of the Benkulen Peninsula, where a curve of reef follows a large headland around into the bay, a setup much like Bengkunqut. It's one of several waves tucked between the headlands along this stretch of coast, and it breaks over dead coral. The wave here has long been rumoured to be a good one.
When It Works
The point draws swell from south through west, with southwest the best match. It works from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 3.7 m / 12 ft, and the left is moderately consistent, so you'll find worthwhile windows when the setup lines up rather than surf on every swell.
Wind and Tide
Look for east offshore wind. The point can work through most of the tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This one suits intermediate surfers, and the lineup stays quiet.
Access
There are no roads out to Balimbing, so getting there takes some effort.
