Banana Beach surf guide

Banana Beach is a small beach located between the usually dry Tamrhakht rivermouth and a cape that offers some protection from the north wind. This spot is known for its relaxed vibe and is frequently visited by families and beginner surfers. The beach can get crowded, especially with surf schools setting up shop in the village, making it a friendly place for newcomers to catch their first waves.

The surf at Banana Beach is pretty easygoing, making it perfect for beginners. The optimal swell direction is from the NorthWest, but it can also handle swells coming from the SouthWest and North. The beach breaks over sand and serves up both left and right waves. You can expect to see waves even when the swell sizes drop down to 1ft (about 0.3 meters). The best time to surf here is during mid to high tide, especially when the wind is coming from the NorthEast. This setup keeps things fun without overwhelming new surfers.

Since Banana Beach is beginner-friendly, it’s a great spot for surf schools to operate. If you’re starting out, you’ll find plenty of other learners in the water, so you won’t feel out of place. The beach is usually busy during the day, so expect to share the waves with fellow surfers!
